Law Awareness Day in Kuching [15th & 16th August, 2009]

This is the day where everyone can bring their legal issues to the lawyers to be properly advised without being charged...

We have to thank for those who have made all this possible especially the committee members of Advocates Association...

Beware of Misrepresentation

Elvina's Mum bought a fridge from C Sdn Bhd. She bought the fridge with an idea that it has a capacity of 250 litre as stated in their description placed in front of the fridge. However, as the fridge reached her house, we have a feeling that the fridge is smaller than its description. Hence, we looked at the specification placed in the fridge and we were right. It is only 218 litre (Gross)!!!

We called up C Sdn Bhd telling them that they might have made a mistake. They were kind enough to came over on Boxing Day to check it out. As they looked at the box and the fridge, they said that is the correct fridge. To confirm that, I went over to C Sdn Bhd Showroom to reconfirm that by looking at the display fridge.

To my dismay, they were right to some extent.

Now to clarify the matter, there are two (2) fridges with the same brand, same structure but one is 30 litres less than the other... Therefore at the front both of the display fridges, it was stated that they have capacities of 220 and 250 litres respectively...

As the price is only different by RM20.00, we took the bigger one.

However the actual capacities of the two fridges as stated in the specification placed inside the fridges are 190++ and 218 litres respectively.

The issue here is that we were being misrepresented by the description place in front of the fridge by C Sdn Bhd...

New Ways in serving legal documents to the Defendants

An article extracted from New Straits Times (18th December, 2008) states that lawyers can actually serve legal documents to the Defendant via Facebook.

Something really interesting.... mmm...

I will only affirm this after I read the relevant judgment.
