My First Company Sponsored Trip – Penang

After coming back to Kuching from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia for three (3) days, we are again on the plane to Penang but this time with all the company staff. This trip is sponsored by my lovely boss, T. C. Chong. Ya-Hooo

It is my first (1st) visit to Penang. My idea of Penang was that it is an island with lots of temples and lots of delicious food at reasonable prices. Mmmmm…. Wait and see whether my idea can turn into reality….

After work on Thursday (18th September, 2008), we quickly went back to our respective homes to take showers and dinner and proceed to the airport to take our flight.

Final Good Bye…

…Putting on my safety helmet

The first destination after we touched down is FOODzzz….!!! Yeah…

Delicious and cheap ... that's all I can say…

Off to our hotel … Gurney Hotel ( For more detail, check http://www.gurney-hotel.com.my/ )

Despite some booking mishap which made us waited at the lobby for hours…., everyone seems to be happy waiting

Next Morning (Friday, 19th September, 2008)

We have beautiful breakfast at Gurney Hotel… (at least, I am enjoying myself.)

Our first visit is the Tropical Spice Garden.

It is full of spices and plants!!!

It is a pity some of the trails in the Tropical Spice Garden have been temporarily closed down due to landslide. But there are still a lot for us to admire…

One thing good about this place is that it is full of signage so you won't get lost…

For further information on this Garden Check out http://www.tropicalspicegarden.com/

Well next to Butterfly Farm…

As you can see from the above picture, it was all dark clouds and as we were about to buy the tickets, came the rain …

So we are forced to proceed to some indoor tours…. such as buying souvenirs….

For further discovery of butterflies, kindly thrill yourself with this :- http://www.butterfly-insect.com/

On the way to souvenirs shop, I took some interesting stuff

My House No. in Kuching!!!

Quadruplets

Driving with the back open ?!?!

First up, the Batik Centre. Then, the Coffee House.

After that, off to lunch and snake temple… But before that, traffic jam and more beautiful scenery.

Penang does have really delicious food. NO doubt about that…

Well off to the Snake temple, which is just opposite of where we had our lunch…

Under Renovation

Snake changing Skin!!!

Next , we head to OE Design Sdn Bhd [ http://www.oedesign.com/ ].

That's where they make diamonds jewelries!!!!!!!

But sadly I can't photos in there due to [you know what I mean]

So I took some photos outside the factory to prove that I've been there.

Well, back to the hotel to take a rest.

We are actually staying in two (2) units of 2 bedroom suites…

Master room has a Jacuzzi…. Yeah….

And most important of all it is huge…

Members of this suite

Jacuzzi that fits 2!!!

After a nap, we are off to the swimming pool in the hotel…

Dinner Time

At a so-called 747 café which is located together with Penang YMCA in the same building called Dewan Tan Sri Lee Kong Chian.

Looks like a pretty "long-standing" place…

I was too hungry to remember to take photos of the food before eating it… so too bad…

Don't know whether is the food too delicious or I'm just too hungry…

After dinner, we went to Pasar Malam to put a few holes onto our wallet…

Things seem to be cheaper than other Pasar Malam in West Malaysia [I think…]

We went back to our hotel at 10-ish. While others are ready to doze off, I took more photos…

Saturday , 20th September, 2007

As I was heading back to our suite from my hearty breakfast, I found my suite mates were stucked outside the suite. Apparently, the swipe card has stopped working. Elvina said she has called the reception through the other suite and they were sending someone up to fix it. I decided not to wait for them and so I took the card and bring it to the reception. As I reached the reception and told them what happened. They seem to use an angry tone telling me that "you must have put the card together with a mobile phone and cause the memory to be erased". First of all, I was not informed that card cannot be together with a mobile phone and secondly, there is no warning sign on the card stating that as well. Unreasonable…

Well at least, we are able to get on with things so I didn't care much.

We are checking out from Gurney and off to Paradise Sandy Beach Resort… a pretty cool hotel resort as well.

For information about this resort, kindly browse http://www.paradisehotel.com/

We are greeted by two friendly bell-boys…

After checking in, we are off to our barbeque (BBQ) picnic at a remote beach…

Our Captain, who is also our chef, starts to prepare the BBQ while we enjoy ourselves at the beach.

After having a beautiful bbq lunch, we packed up and ready to head back to our Paradise

Landslide???

While some of us having a swim at the swimming pool at Paradise, I went around to take photos…

Paradise

Seems like there will be a power shutdown tomorrow (Sunday) from 10am to 2pm.

Ok… mmm… I wonder how badly it is going to affect us?

Well, definitely no hot water, no air-con, no lift….

Ah!?!? No Lift???

Ooo… That's bad.

Oh well, wait and see lah.

After fiddling with water, we decided to do more shopping at Queensbay Mall

To check for current promotions in Queensbay Mall, Kindly drown or mesmerize yourself at http://queensbaymallmalaysia.com/

Next, we are going to have a good dinner… yum yum yum…

After dinner, it is basically our leisure time…

I didn't do much that night….

Just fill myself with Penang sceneries…

I also went to a Mamak store opposite our resort.

It is a very modernized mamak store

Sunday, 21st September, 2008

Last day before we end the fun…

Luckily the power shutdown does not affect us much at all as we checked out at 10-ish. The lift was still running after 10 so I believe we are being blessed…

Picked up by our tour guide, our first destination of the day is Crown Pewter.

To have more insight of this place, have a peek at http://www.malaysiayellowpages.net/crownpewter/

Next off to temples…

Then , to Penang Botanical Garden

Lunch Time

After lunch, more shopping for souvenirs…

And more sightseeing…

Fort Cornwallis, Penang

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion

Khoo Kongsi "The Heritage Jewel of Panang"

Sun Yat Sen Penang Base

Pinang Peranakan Mansion "Relive the legacy and culture of the Baba & Nyonya Heritage"

Oh yes, we also went to drink "Chendol" that is recommended by our tour guide…

After a beautiful bowl of chendol, it is time to head to the airport to take our flight back to Kuching.

Basically, I enjoyed the trip to Penang.
