Trip to Gunung Gading National Park, Sarawak, Malaysia

13th December, 2008 (Saturday)

After we are given the knowledge that Rafflesia is blooming at Gunung Gading National Park, we quickly decide to pay a visit asap as it has a very brief blooming period [maximum two (2) weeks].

Joining up with Mdm Yap & Co., Ms Sim & Co., Mr Thian and my Elvina, we made a trip to see the special flower...

Gunung Gading National Park is located in the Lundu District, southwest of Sarawak. Therefore we had a stop at Bau to have lunch.

Beautiful Chicken Rice... mmm... Sadly the rice is at limited quantity due to our fault in booking...

After lunch, we made our way to the Lundu town.

Gunung Gading is only 5 mins from Lundu town.

We need to walk about 20 minutes to have a sighting of the blooming Rafflesia

It is a long walk...

Into the jungle in search of this...

... Special Flower

This is two (2) month old...

This is seven (7) month old

This is nine (9) month old...

This is fifteen (15) days after blooming...

Everyone managed to have a view of the flower...

And now then I know that, the inner flower looks like this...

After finished sighting the flower, the kids decided to cool down themselves.

As the kids were enjoying the natural pool, we decided to climb again into the mountain to find the waterfall. Sadly, I did not take my camera along so I was not able to shoot down all those beautiful scenery that I witnessed. We can only reach Waterfall No.1 due to limitations on our fitness and daylight time. It took us about thirty (30) minutes to get there... Only one (1) word can describe the waterfall... Magnifici-on...

For more info on Gunung Gading and the accommodation there, kindly browse this site.

After all the climbing, playing and fooling around.. It is time for dinner... We had our dinner at Mdm Yap's friend at Lundu town.

"Anything will do...
...as long as it can fill up our stomach"

HUNgry... is all written on their face...

This is the kid that Elvina loves the most...

Well... that's how my Saturday went...
